Waking Wednesday Morning | makingbabycoutts's Blog

I slept later than I expected, waking around 8am when I heard Baby Coutts. She wasn't crying, she was just playing loudly in her crib. I knew she was ok for the time being but would be getting hungry soon. I had time to put on a cup of coffee, take a few and have a smoke in front of the computer. I heard her playful sounds turn into "hello? someone there?" sounds. I checked her diaper and it was still clean (I'd changed her once in the middle of the night, no idea what time it was though). She had a bottle and was content. When she was done I went in to fetch her for some mornin' lovin'. We hugged and smiled, talked and waved at our reflections for awhile. I changed her and didn't have any problems with her wiggling and squirming. She's been making it hard to change her lately by lifting her butt up off the changing mat and trying to scoot on her back. Daddy Coutts and I change her facing different directions so when he does it it's even worse because she's scooting towards the edge of the mat. When I change her she scoots towards the side of the dresser pressed against the end of the mat. She hits her head against it when she scoots that way and cries. I tell her not to scoot, not to hit her head, but you know how it is with babies : ) I give her a toy to play with right before I go to lift her bottom. It distracts her and she holds still. Both of us leave happy. I let her sit in the front room playing with her edu-ball and Baby Einsteins for awhile. She started to complain so I prepared to feed her her solid breakfast (peaches and banana oatmeal). I of course got it too hot. Sigh. I put together some apple juice diluted a little bit with filtered water into a sippy cup for her. She needs to start learning how to use that. She's enjoying it now. Once she's done I will find something for her to wear. I've been offering to make Daddy Coutts breakfast but he hasn't been hungry for it. I haven't either but I wanted to offer anyways just in case he was in the mood for bacon and eggs. We have a ton of both. I picked up some more solid baby food for Doodles yesterday & we have groceries in the house (lots of snacks and goodies), so I'm secure knowing I can put something together if any of us get hungry. We have chocolate milk and can make hot chocolate. There's candy and pie and donuts and cake and crackers - nix that, I polished those off last night. With all the snacks around I'm not surprised that he hasn't been very hungry for large meals. I haven't either to tell ya the truth.
