Baby Shower | makingbabycoutts's Blog

I'm tired but it was worth it. I had a great time at the baby shower my coworkers threw for me. We played several baby shower games. One game involved several bottles each filled to the same height with water. The first to finish the bottle wins. Sounds simple but sucking through a nipple is harder than it looks! Believe it or not there's a technique to it that ya have to figure out. One coworker didn't let any air go back into the bottle and ended up creating a suction that sucked her nipple all the way back into the bottle... an inverted nipple is impossible to suck out of. I won that game & claimed a prize bag which contained a candle. Of course there were the obligatory comments about being a good sucker (echem). Another game involved a roll of toilet paper. I was to stand up as a roll of toilet paper was passed from person to person, each person tearing off the length they guessed would wrap around my widest point. Some tore off short lengths that I knew wouldn't have wrapped around me even before I was pregnant & others tore off lengths that would have wrapped around me several times over (gee thanks guys lol). Only one person tore off the exact amount of squares. Then each person had to say something about themselves for every square of toilet paper they had torn off. Another game involved our purses. We each grabbed our purses and the hostess of the party called out different items. Whoever had the item in their purse and whipped it out the fastest won. That game was a lot more fun than it sounds. You would be surprised the oddities in some womens purses. When she called out "a condom" I laughed sayin "hell if I'd had that in my purse we wouldn't be here right now would we." After a few games we dove into the pot luck. There was a lot of good food. Someone had made mini triangle cut sandwiches & even went to the trouble of removing the crusts! There were veggie trays (those mini cherry tomatoes sure are good!), cheese & cracker trays, a crock pot of mini meatballs in marinara sauce, pasta salad, the lumpia I'd hinted at wanting, too much to list. And then there was the cake. Another coworker had baked a special cake that resembled a baby. It was surrounded by tiny plastic baby diaper pins and bottles in pastel colors with party favors all around. There were streamers of pink balloons and twisted pink ribbons on the ceiling. The cake was really delicious! I don't think I even bothered to take a breath between bites it was so good. Then we opened presents. Yeay presents! I came away with so much loot. There were blankets, onesies, chocolate bars, gift cards, diapers, wipes, bottles, lotions, baby wash, baby massage gel, baby powder, candles, a winnie the pooh music box, more coordinated outfits than I could possibly list, enough socks to give the sock monster in the dryer a run for his money, pacifiers, a baby care cart, baby sleep and play pajamas, an amazing sparkly white satin baby dress, baby shoes, hooded towels & washcloths, crib booties, a thermometer, a bath kit, a diaper bag, a double electric breast pump, a bassinet/play yard/ changer all-in-one... I could go on but you get the idea. They passed around a small notebook. Everyone wrote some tid bit of advice or well wishes in it. I feel so very blessed. I can't believe how generous, how wonderful my coworkers, my friends, have been. It couldn't have been cheap or easy to put this whole thing together but the day went off without a hitch. It was perfect. I couldn't help but beam with gratitude and happiness the whole time. This Blog Entry's Comment Board There are no comments on this post yet, be the first to leave one!
